Born and raised in Calgary, Alberta, Dr. Yan attended Sir Winston Churchill High School and went on further to receive her Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Cellular and Molecular Microbial Biology and Bachelor of Commerce (BComm) in Operations Management at the University of Calgary. She received Distinction designations for both disciplines and was awarded the Silver Medallion from the Haskayne School of Business for her achievements.

Dr. Yan’s passion for health care led her to pursue Dentistry in Vancouver, BC. Dr. Yan earned her Doctor of Dental Medicine Degree (D.M.D) at the University of British Columbia. Although she thoroughly enjoyed her time studying and living on the West Coast, her heart remains with her hometown Calgary where her family and friends reside.

Away from work, Dr. Yan is a fitness enthusiast but in an unconventional way. She enjoys staying in shape and feeling healthy with workout video regimens where she decompresses at the end of a long day by engaging in dance aerobics, yoga and pilates. In addition, one of Dr. Yan’s other passions is music. Having studied piano performance since the age of six, she enjoys playing the piano for leisure and attending classical music concerts.
